Are you in the right place? This section will explain how to manage a single 16-digit Activation Key, with more than one license.
If you are looking for the management of individual 16-digit Activation Key(s) with one license each, please see Managing Individual Activation Key(s).
I purchased or will purchase multiple licenses, deployed as a single Activation Key.
All software licenses purchased from SAPIEN Technologies, Inc. are per-user—the number of users accessing the software must equal the number of licenses purchased. All software licenses purchased from SAPIEN Technologies, Inc. are per-user—the number of users accessing the software must equal the number of licenses purchased. Each user operating the software must have a valid SAPIEN Account.
Activation Key Maintenance
When all licenses are linked to a single 16-digit Activation Key, all maintenance expiration dates must match. Adding licenses down the road often requires the co-terming of maintenance expiration dates before the purchase can be processed, which may incur additional co-terming costs. Currently, our online store cannot handle license add-ons to single Activation Keys. Please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. When all licenses are deployed in individual Activation Keys, maintenance dates are not required to match. Purchasing and adding new licenses down the road will not require the co-terming of maintenance. Our online store can handle new license purchases deployed as individual Activation Keys, but it cannot process co-term requests. If you wish to co-term the maintenance expiration dates on your individual Activation Keys, please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. Scenario - I am purchasing the licenses to be deployed as a single 16-digit Activation Key.
I am purchasing on behalf of a business that does not allow for individual users to register licensed software. We will centrally manage our licenses under a single 16-digit Activation Key. As the Account Manager, I may or may not also be an End User.
- The Account Manager will need to create an account at sapien.com/auth.
NOTE: Although the Activation Key will not be directly registered to the End User, each person who will be operating the software will still be required to create their own SAPIEN Account. Once the End User(s) has created their account, they should provide their SAPIEN Account Username to the Account Manager. - After the management account is created, sign-in and navigate to the My Account, Registered Products Page.
- On the left-hand side of the screen, select Register an Activation Key.
- Enter your 16-digit Activation Key in the Product Registration box and click Register.
- Once the Activation Key is registered, the next step is to add your End Users.
Gather the SAPIEN Account Usernames provided by the End Users who will be utilizing the software. NOTE: Each license can have one end user. The number of usernames received should equal the number of licenses purchased.
Click the drop-down arrow to view the license details.
-
Verify the number of licenses associated with your Activation Key and locate the “Manage Users” section. For demonstration purposes, the number of licenses associated with the Activation Key in this example is four.
The username of the account that registered the software is automatically registered as an End User. Therefore, if the Account Manager is not going to be an End User of the software, you will need to click Remove User to free up that spot. If the Account Manager is an end user, they should not be removed from this area.
NOTE: If the Account Manager is removed, they will still have access to the account and be in complete control of adding/removing the End User(s), but they will no longer be an End User authorized to “activate and operate” the software. - Continue adding your approved End Users by inputting their SAPIEN Username(s) in the Add a User box and clicking Add User.
EX: Username - lchristine
EX: Username - allison
Ex: Username - sapienadmin
Once the number of users equals the number of licenses associated with the Activation Key, the Add User box will disappear. This is how you know that you have reached your user limit.NOTE: The Account Manager is the only person who can add users to the account, but once a user is added, they have the ability to remove themselves.
In addition to adding users, the account manager can also remove users by clicking on the Remove User box next to the account username:
Once added to the account, the End User has all of the rights to the Activation Key as they would if it were registered directly to their account. The registered user can now log-in to their personal SAPIEN Account where they can download the licensed software, see the number of activations they have used, and manage their activations. They will be able to post in the SAPIEN Support Forums for any technical issues, and they can request licensing support from the e-mail address associated with their account.
- The Account Manager will need to create an account at sapien.com/auth.
Managing Activation Key Activations
Activations are never automatically disabled; simply uninstalling the software will not deactivate an activation.
Each licensed user is entitled to a maximum of two devices to be activated and operating at any given time for their personal use.
To deactivate activations, the licensed user must open the software and click on the gold-like certificate icon in the top-right corner:
This will open the Activation information box. Click Deactivate:
NOTE: If the user(s) leaves the company without properly deactivating the software, don’t fret! As the Account Manager, you can deactivate the activation manually via the Registered Products page.
Click on View the details of each activation.
The Activation Details window will open and display the currently activated machines. Find the machine name associated with the user who is no longer with the company/utilizing the Activation Key and click Reset.
This will free up the activation.
